- The lawmaker representing Kiru/Bebeji federal constituency of Kano state has said that President Muhammadu Buhari has merited a second term
- Jibrin said the president's electoral value is the major factor the All Progressives Congress (APC) to gain victory in 2019
According to the lawmaker, the president would win in 20 states across Nigeria even better than he did during the 2015 election
A member of the House of Representatives has said that President Muhammadu Buhari has done well enough to deserve a second term as Nigeria's president.
Abdulmumin Jibrin, the lawmaker representing Kiru/Bebeji federal constituency of Kano state said there are numerous feats achieved by the president that would help him cling the presidential seat in 2019.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja, Jibrin said President Buhari will win even more than in did in 2015 because he has proved himself worthy of a re-election.
Jibrin said the president's electoral value is the major factor the All Progressives Congress (APC) to gain victory in 2019.
He said: "For the political reasons, there are certain things that will help the APC to retain power and will ensure that President Muhammadu Buhari wins."
"First, the President has a massive electoral value, his stronghold states are still there. You will hear a lot of people, particularly, those revamping taking here and there.
But I can put a vet with all you seated here that President Buhari will win, even more that he did in 2019 in his stronghold states - like Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa, Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Plateau, Niger, Kogi and of course the southwest is a no go area because they have positioned themselves to take the presidency after 2023. So they do not want to make any mistake about that.
Do you hear any party making any noise in the southwest? It is because it is locked down for Buhari. Lagos, Ondo, Osun, Ogun, Ekiti, Oyo is all for Presidnet Muhammad Buhari and of course you know that Edo is already there, Delta we are making it in a significant way and very soon, you will hear a lot of people that will decamp into the party, I don't want to give names - Otega is doing a good job there, Omo- Agege too," Jibrin said.
Continuing, the lawmaker said Rivers state currently governed by a Peoples Democratic governor is a work-over for the ruling APC.
He strong members of the APC from the state would ensure that Rivers state will be a win for Preident Buhari.
According to Jibrin, the minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi and the director general of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dakuku Peterside, would map out strategic political measures to ensure Rivers state is taken away from the PDP.
He said: "Then for Rivers, you know we lost it just by a whisker but now we have two senators in Rivers; Amaechi is there, Dakuku is also there and I can assure you that Rivers would also come home."
"So when you do a practical analysis and take off the issue of mere hearsay, you would understand that APC is standing firm and of course President Muhammad Buhari is also standing firm," he added.
Jibrin also said that President Buhari's strong connection with the masses is sure to earn him a second term as Nigeria's president.
He said the president still stands firm in his stronghold states and has a unparalleled opposition in these area.
"Secondly, the President is naturally, naturally, has a natural connection with the masses and nothing has tampered with that," Jibrin said.
I cite several examples with people, Buhari is a man of the masses particularly in the far north and North central and of course where he has his stronghold that I have just mentioned.
And so the next election, those people who are against Buhari in this election are just a section of the elite. And they do not have any electoral value.
And so, the next election for Nigerians is going to be an election of the elite versus the masses, the people of this country, Nigeria have to also realise that especially in the area of governance, Buhari has done tremendously well," he added.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that Jibrin had said that not less than four governors on the platform of the PDP are working for the ruling APC in a cross-carpeting arrangement.
Jibrin said the APC still remains strong despite losing some key members.
He said the party is sure to cling the presidential seat in 2019 especially with its consensus of flying President Muhammadu Buhari as the party's candidate.
