Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United are closing in on a stunning £60million swoop for Tottenham defence ace Toby Alderweireld.
According to a UK Sun report citing sources at The Mirror, revealed that despite claims that the two Premier League clubs are far apart in their valuation of the 29-year-old defender, there reached a breakthrough in their meetings.
The reports further hinted that Alderweireld has been one of Mourinho's major targets this summer in a bid to solidify his defence line ahead of hostilities in the new campaign.
In addition, the report claimed that the Belgian was ready to run down his present deal at the North London club, which expires at the summer of 2019, if Tottenham insists on their £75m valuation.
In a related development, the UK Sun report further hinted that Manchester United's move to bring Colombian defender Yerry Mina to Old Trafford from Barcelona has hit the rocks.
The club eggheads opted out on the Colombian following disagreement over agent’s fees.
Old Trafford bigwigs are angry after Mina’s adviser Felipe Russo moved the goalposts.
Russo made things fallout after requesting for more and different payments.
United’s Matt Judge held talks the agent to sort out the player’s side of the deal and agreed a five-year contract last week.
However, Russo refused to give in on extras in the fee, including money due to him as well as the 23-year-old Mina.
The Red Devils could not hold on Russo failed to meet a deadline to seal the deal yesterday, despite earlier agreements on Friday.
