- 33-year old Kelechi Chukwu has emerged as the youngest governorship campaign director in Imo state
- He was appointed by the governorship aspirant of the United Progressive Party (UPP) in the state, Honourable Tony Nwulu
- Chukwu will be the new director-general of the Mezie Imo Movement Campaign Organization
In a bid to maintain his Not-Too-Young-To-Run mantra as the sponsor of the bill in the House of Representatives, Honourable Tony Nwulu has appointed 33-year old Kelechi Chukwu as the new director-general of his campaign outfit, Mezie Imo Movement Campaign Organization.
Nwulu, 39, is the governorship aspirant of the UPP in Imo state gubernatorial aspirant and also the youngest politician seeking the office.
He currently represents Oshodi-Isolo II federal constituency in the green chambers, but has returned to his home state of Imo, to seek for the office of the governor.
The House of Reps member stated that he appointed Chukwu, a graduate of statistic from Imo State University, who hails from Ehime Mbano local government area of the state, because of his sterling qualities as well as his believe that the youths can move things to the next level in the state and beyond.
Describing Chukwu as a young man passionate with his works, Honourable Nwulu said he is confident that the new DG will lead his campaign orgnization to the promise land.
“Kelechi is a young man who is dedicated and passionate about his job as the state coordinator of Mezie Imo Movement. I have never seen a young man so selfless, committed and very articulate in pursuit of set goals
“He has proven beyond reasonable doubt that he is capable to carry out any assignment bestowed on him. He has the zeal, charisma to deliver. He is hungry for Imo development and transformation.
“I have absolute confidence that he will do well if given a bigger task and I therefore on behalf of myself, my campaign organization and Mezie Imo Movement appoint Mr Kelechi Kingsley Chukwu as director-general of my 2019 Imo governorship election,” Honourable Nwulu announced to his supporters.
He also reassured Imolites that his vision is to establish a transparent government where human capital development will be promoted to ensure massive infrastructural revolution in the state.
His words: “My vision is to establish a transparent, accountable, responsive, committed government and build a sustainable state that will promote human capital development, ensure the provision of infrastructure, secure lives and properties and improve access to investment opportunities and lifesaving services now and for future generations of our people.
“I call on our people, the good people of Imo state to join our campaign for greater Imo state under the United Progressive Party, UPP.”
Honourable Nwulu recently dumped the Peoples Democratic Party due to what he termed, “irreconcilable conflicts in the party.”
He made this known at a news conference on Tuesday, July 24, shortly after the plenary session where he also announced his defection to the UPP.
