Premier League side Everton have reportedly move ahead of Manchester United to reach an agreement with Spanish giants Barcelona for defence ace Yerry Mina.
According to Catalan newspaper Sport reports, the Toffees and the Red Devils have been linked with the Colombian, who struggled for first team spot at Barcelona under Ernesto Valverde during last campaign.
Yerry Mina is eager to face a new challenge following hard times at the Spanish giants.
Initially, the Red Devils had appeared to be in the drivers’ seat to complete a deal for Mina but recent reports claim Portuguese boss Jose Mourinho has switched his attention back to Harry Maguire and Toby Alderweireld.
The report hinted the Toffees have now agreed a deal for the 23-year-old defender as club boss Marco Silva is keen of a centre-back all summer, with veteran Ashley Williams likely to switch base to Stoke.
And report further suggests Mina is expected to pen a five-year deal Goodison Park in the coming days after the Merseyside giants and Barcelona chiefs sorted out negotiations swiftly.
Interestingly, the Colombia international reportedly will cost Everton just £28million, but would have been sold to Manchester United for £40m.
Reacting on the latest development, Barca chief Jordi Mestre sounded unconfident while responding on Mina’s links with Everton and United today.
He said: “It's top secret.
"We have to be very careful because Yerry Mina arrived last season and he's very young, but we will see. We will see.
“The final opinion [on if he stays or goes] is with the coach [Valverde]."
Despite all his struggles at the Nou Camp, Mina claimed both the La Liga and Copa del Rey with Barcelona last season
However, a new challenge in the English topflight is now looming for the talented denfender.
