- Adeleke governorship campaign organisation has blasted a group for asking the PDP gubernatorial candidate to step down over his certificate issue
- The campaign organization said the group demonstrated gross ignorance and lack of education on constitutional requirements
- It also affirmed that the governorship candidate has demonstrated by his performance in the Senate
Senator Adeleke has satisfied electoral requirement for a governorship candidate according to his campaign organisation.
According to the organisation in a statement made available to NAIJ.com, the call by an unknown group, Renewal Youth Movement (RYM), that Adeleke steps down demonstrated gross ignorance and lack of education on constitutional requirements to contest for the governorship election.
"Desperate forces hell bent on smearing the party and her candidate should have educated themselves on relevant sections of the constitution. By the constitution and judicial pronouncements from the apex court, Senator Adeleke is eminently qualified to contest for governorship.
"There is therefore no legal or political basis to call for the withdrawal of Senator Adeleke from the governorship race. Those behind the campaign of calumny must have been surprised and shocked that their smear campaigns have failed to stop the soaring voters' support for the Adeleke candidacy.
"As we have noted in an earlier release, allegation of certificate forgery is only in the warped imagination of those peddling the falsehood as the issue is about date error on school testimonial, not secondary school certificate.Sacred fact of the discourse is that nothing like forgery occurs as a bonafide ex-student is entitled to a testimonial," the statement affirmed.
Going further, the campaign organisation affirmed that the governorship candidate has demonstrated by his performance in the Senate that capacity is best measured by performance.
" Let face the real issue of bad government biting our people so hard. PDP is set to address workers' welfare as first line charge while delivering on comprehensive state development through innovative policies. Those are the preoccupation of the PDP and her candidate," the statement signed by the campaign director of media and publicit, Olawale Rasheed, noted.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that the Osun state Coalition for Good Governance chided the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chapter in the state over the submission of Senator Ademola Adeleke’s name as its candidate for the September 22 governorship election.
The group aired its grievances via its director of media and publicity, Akin Akinsode, during a chat with newsmen.
