French Ligue 1 side Olympique Marseille are considering a bid for Super Eagles defender Mikel Agu on a season loan from Portuguese club FC Porto, reports suggest.
According to French website Le10sport.com, the Nigeria international who has 12 months on his current deal with FC Porto spent the last campaign on loan with Turkish side Bursaspor is expected to strengthen Marseille’s midfield.
The 25 year-old was not included in Nigeria’s final 23-man squad for the global football fiesta in Russia despite making the initial list.
However, Mikel made 28 appearances for Bursaspor as well as netting twice during his loan spell.
The report further hinted that the Nigeria international is scheduled to complete the switch before summer transfer deadline day.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously had reported that Mikel's Super Eagles teammate Alex Iwobi has penned a new long term contract extension with his Premier League side Arsenal.
The Nigeria international made his senior team debut at the Emirates Stadium under former manager Arsene Wenger in 2015 after joining the Gunners at age nine.
He is one of the product of the club's academy 'Hale End Academy' and has enjoyed some level of success with the north London club.
