Bolaji Abdullahi becomes national publicity secretary of CUPP days after leaving APC

- Bolaji Abdullahi is appointed as the national spokesperson of the CUPP

- The CUPP is planning a consensus candidate for the 2019 presidential election

Days after defecting from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bolaji Abdullahi, the party’s former sspokesperson, has been appointed as the national publicity secretary of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP).

Abdullahi had resigned his position in the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC and then moved over to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

This Day reports that Abdullahi was announced as the head of the media and publicity committee, which includes Kazeem Afegbua and Kola Ologbondiyan.

The report said Abdullahi’s committee was among the several sub-committees inaugurated on Tuesday, August 7, in Abuja.

The CUPP is a coalition of 38 opposition political parties with the aim of wrestling power from the APC.

The plan ahead of the coalition is to pick a sole candidate for the presidential election ahead of the 2019 general elections.

NAIJ.com also earlier reported that Bolaji Abdullahi left the ruling APC.

Abdullahi made this landslide move public on his Twitter page on Wednesday, August 1. He said that his resolve to resign from his office following recent development in the ruling party.

Abdullahi further said that on several occasions his loyalty to the party has been brought into question, adding that he has suffered insubordination from some of deputies.
