- Chelsea star Kurt Zouma could be on his way to Everton before the summer transfer window closes
- The Toffees manager wants to sign the defender in a bid to solve the club's defensive issues
- They are also linked with a move for Yerry Mina and Marcos Rojo
Everton manager Marco Silva is hoping to land Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma in a bid to solve his side's defensive lapses before his side's Premier League opener against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.
The Toffees were earlier linked with a move to Barcelona star Yerry Mina but the delay in the move has forced the tactician to beam his searchlight on the Blues star.
However, he has less than 32 hours to make that happens as this summer transfer window shuts on Thursday, August 9, by 5pm.
Zouma spent last season on loan at Stoke City last term however, he was unable to save them from escaping relegation.
According to the Mirror, Silva has just Phil Jagielka and Michael Keane at the moment, as Mason Holgate has been out injured during pre-season.
Reports also claim that Silva allowed Ashley Williams to move to relegated Stoke — effectively replacing Zouma — on loan and let Ramiro Funes Mori join Spain's Villarreal, leaving him desperate to bring in new faces.
Everton were also linked with a move for out of favour Manchester United star Marcos Rojo, but have not been able to make head way on the deal.
NAIJ.com previously reported that Everton have reportedly move ahead of Manchester United to reach an agreement with Spanish giants Barcelona for defence ace Yerry Mina.
According to Catalan newspaper Sport reports, the Toffees and the Red Devils have been linked with the Colombian, who struggled for first team spot at Barcelona under Ernesto Valverde during last campaign.
Colombia's Yerry Mina is eager to face a new challenge following hard times at the Spanish giants.
