- Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has defended his assistant Salisu Yusuf who was alleged of receiving bribe
- This occurred in July 2018 when undercover reporters acted to be agents and offered Salisu money in Ghana
- Salisu collected the money in the video and he is currently in London receiving treatment
Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has reacted to the reports of his assistant coach Salisu Yusuf being alleged of receiving bribe from undercover journalists who disguised as football agents.
Salisu Yusuf was caught in a video receiving money from the agents to influence his decision in picking some unnamed players for the 2018 African Nations Championship in Morocco.
Gernot Rohr has now defended his assistant Salisu Yusuf claiming that he saw the video that was circulated and stressed that his second man is an honest person.
“I saw the video, and I saw what happened and From my experience, Salisu is an honest man.
“Those people just want to make trouble, these people are just trying to catch some people because Salisu does not need that money, he is a victim of this situation,'' Rohr explained according to KWESE ESPN.
Meanwhile, Salisu Yusuf is currently in London for medical attention and will appear before a Nigeria Football Federation ethics committee to explain himself when he returns to Nigeria.
Earlier, NAIJ.com had reported how Salisu Yusuf was caught on camera collecting money from an undercover journalist posing as football agents to select two of their players for the 2018 African Nations Championship which was staged in Morocco earlier this year.
Nigeria got to the final of the championship for the first time at the 5th edition of the tournament but lost 4-1 to the host nation and settle down for bronze medal.
