The Akwa Ibom state government has sacked the commissioner for labour, productivity and manpower development, Ibanga Akpabio, from the state Executive Council with immediate effect.
Ibanga, who is a younger brother to ex-governor and erstwhile Senate minority leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio, was sacked following the news of Godswill defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The commissioner for information and strategy, Charles Udoh, disclosed this in Uyo on Wednesday, August 8.
Governor Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom state had ealier sacked one of his commissioners, Victor Antai.
Victor Antai, a former lawmaker in the state, was until his sack the commissioner in charge of culture and tourism.
The two commissioners were reportedly removed from the State Executive Council following what was alleged to be “gross misconduct and non-compliance with public service rules.”
With the development, they have been mandated to hand over to the Permanent Secretary in their respective ministries before close of work on Wednesday, August 8

NAIJ.com earlier reported that Senator Godswill Akpabio received a hero’s welcome in Akwa Ibom when he arrived in the state ahead of his planned defection to the APC from the PDP.
The former Senate minority leader who is set to move to the APC landed on Tuesday, August 7.
