- The Foxes are interested in reuniting with their former midfielder Danny Drinkwater this summer
- He joined Chelsea in the summer of 2017 after winning the league with the Foxes in 2016
- Claude Puel is now hoping to add the midfielder to his squad ahead of the 2018-19 season
Former Premier League champions Leicester City are reportedly planning to make a stunning summer move for out of favour Chelsea star Danny Drinkwater.
The England international joined the Blues in a five year deal worth €40 million but failed to impress in his debut season at the Stamford Bridge under former manager Antonio Conte.
With the EPL transfer window closing on Thursday, August 9, the Foxes are interesting in re-uniting with their former player ahead of the 2018-19 season.
According to the Sun, the midfielder seem to have been declared surplus to requirements under new manager Maurizio Sarri.
Drinkwater played a key role in Leicester's Premier League triumph in 2016 after which he moved to the Stamford Bridge to join N'golo Kante at the club.
However, the FA Cup champions are open to selling the 28-year-old but will require his buyer to cough out £20m, but the Foxes would rather take him on loan.
Drinkwater is also said to be wanted by Crystal Palace and West Ham but SunSport understands that no firm bid has been made to Chelsea yet.
Reports from the Blues camp reveals that Sarri is planning to reduce his squad before Thursday's deadline following the arrivals of keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga and midfielder Mateo Kovacic.
He also engineered the signing of Napoli midfielder Jorginho when he was announced as Conte'e replacement this summer.
Meanwhile, Tiemoue Bakayoko has been offered to AC Milan on a loan deal, while Kurt Zouma is also free to leave with Everton and Manchester United eyeing temporary deals.
Striker Michy Batshuayi is another braced to spend the season elsewhere with Valencia interested in taking him on loan.
NAIJ.com previously reported that Chelsea launched £30 million bid plus midfielder Danny Drinkwater to sign Ivorian forward Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace.
The former Manchester United ace was the Eagles star performer last term after netting nine times alongside five assists in 29 matches.
The 25-year-old has been repeatedly linked with a switch to Chelsea’s London rivals Tottenham for the past two seasons but nothing positive have been reached with Palace so far.
