Breaking: EFCC has unfrozen Benue government accounts - Ortom's aide

The Benue state government on Thursday, August 9, said the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has unfrozen its bank accounts.

NAIJ.com gathered that Terver Akase, the chief press secretary to Governor Samuel Ortom, confirmed this to Channels Television in an interview.

Recall that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had reportedly frozen the bank accounts belonging to the government of Benue state after it was said to have secured a court order for this.

The government’s accounts were frozen on the claim that Governor Samuel Ortom’s security vote was being investigated.

The official reportedly said that three bank accounts were affected by the action of the EFCC.

NAIJ.com previously reported that the chief press secretary to the Benue state governor, Terver Akase has reacted to the freezing of the state government's accounts by the EFCC.

Akase says the action of the anti-graft commission is a political witch-hunt against his principal after he defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

According to him, “the action of EFCC is already having negative impact on the running of government in Benue state. It is a move that will affect salaries, pensions and other sundry payments.”
