Rap superstar Linda 'ProKid' Mkhize dies at age 37 following 'severe seizure'

It has been reported rapper Linda 'ProKid' Mkhize passed away at a late hour of Wednesday, August 8, at the age of 37, after suffering a fatal 'severe seizure'.

Thursday, August 9, morning marks a heartbreaking day for South African music as award-winning Hip-Hop artist Linda 'ProKid' Mkhiza is pronounced dead.

According to a report by TimesLIVE, the rapper's family shared the sad news through a media statement on Thursday morning.

"The legendary SA hip-hop artist affectionately known as ProKid of hip-hop passed away on Wednesday. He suffered a severe seizure attack whilst visiting friends and paramedics were called in to assist. They did their best to revive him to no avail and called his time of death at 20.38," part of the statement read.

NAIJ.com learned the statement further asked fans to respect the family's privacy as they mourn the death of their relative.

It also added more details would be released after the family gathered themselves. The news spread like wildfire through South Africa and soon tributes came streaming in on social media.

Fellow famous rapper AKA took to Twitter to share his heartbreak over the news of ProKid's death.

"REST IN PEACE TO ONE OF THE GREATEST TO EVER DO IT. Gave me my break as a producer, gave me my break as an artist ... There will never be another PRO.. shocking," Kiernan Forbes wrote.

The South African government also shared condolences on their official Twtter handle:

May his soul rest in peace.
