How to open an account at Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria

  1. Go to www.sc.com/ng/save and find the type of account you would like to open.
  2. Click the ‘Sign up now’ link below your preferred type to get to the sign up page.
  3. Check the eligibility criteria at the top of the screen if you are not sure if you are eligible. If you are, provide the required information (full name, e-mail, phone number, city and nationality) and click ‘Ok, next.’
  4. Provide more information (income, gender, date of birth, marital status and state, etc.) and click ‘Ok, finish.’
  5. Once you do that, your application is complete. Wait for the bank to contact you.

There is one more way to open a quick account with Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria.

  1. Go to www.sc.com/ng/save/accounts/apply.
  2. Fill the form with relevant information (name, date and country of birth, mobile number, e-mail, and BVN) and answer a few questions. When you are done, click ‘Ok, next’.
  3. Review the application summary and if all is correct click ‘Confirm.’
  4. You should receive a 6-digit code via SMS that you need to enter in the form and click Submit. If you have not received the code, click the ‘Resend SMS’ button.
  5. Submit the code.
  6. Your application is finished, wait for the bank to contact you for further instructions. Alternatively, you can visit one of SCB branches or call the hotline- 01 2704611-4.

For Current account, you are going to need the same documents as Savings account or eSaver, you will only need to provide two passport photos instead of one.

SCB has a special offer for women with their Diva Club account. It can be either current or savings account. The documents required are the same as for Savings account or eSaver.

With a Fixed/Term Deposit Account, you can have a short- or long-term deposit and earn money through interest rates. To open a deposit account, you will need the following:

  • One passport photo
  • Two suitable references from account holders
  • A FATCA form
  • SDD / EDD Checklist
  • A TD Placement form
  • Important Information document
  • Means of identification.

Once you have registered for an account at SCB Nigeria, you need to register for online banking separately. SCB offers two options: registering with a debit/credit card or with a temporary ID and SMS PIN.

If your account comes with the card, you can select the first option and follow these steps to register for SCB online banking Nigeria:

  1. Click here to register for online banking with your card. Make sure you have your card and phone number that is registered with SCB accountednext to you.
  2. Check the box in the Terms & Conditions section and click Accept.
  3. Choose your type of card. If it is a Debit card, provide its number, PIN and expiry date. If it is a credit card, enter its number and PIN (if you know it). If you do not know your PIN, enter the card expiry date, your date of birth and the CVV2 code that can be found on the back of your card.
  4. After you're done inputting the information, click Next.
  5. Verify the information you have provided and click Next.
  6. If all is correct, you should receive a one-time password (OTP) via SMS to your registered number. Provide the OTP and proceed to the next step.
  7. Create your login information and finish up with the application.

If your account comes with no card, you can choose the second option and register with your temporary ID and SMS PIN. Here is what you should do:

  1. Go to one of the SCB branches or call the aforementioned hotline to apply for online banking. You should receive your temporary ID via e-mail and your temporary password via SMS.
  2. Once you have received both of these things, click here to go to the registration page.
  3. Check the box under Terms & Conditions and click ‘Accept’.
  4. Input your temporary ID and password into the form and click Next.
  5. Create your login information and finish your application.
