- Tiemoue Bakayoko is set to be loaned out to AC Milan
- The move could be made permanent in the 2019 summer
- The 23-year-old has failed to nail a place in Sarri's squad
Chelsea midfielder Tiemuoe Bakayako has been deemed surplus to requirements by Maurizio Sarri and is now set to spend the 2018-19 campaign in Italy
The 23-yearold is heading out of Chelsea, Goal understands, with AC Milan set to acquire the midfielder on a loan agreement which will include a €35 million (£31m/$40m) purchase option.
The France midfielder only moved to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2017, with a £40 million ($51m) deal from Monaco under Antonio Conte.
However, Bakayoko had to endure a testing debut campaign in English football, with questions asked of his suitability to life in the Premier League.
With Conte having now left the west London club, new Blues boss Maurizio Sarri is looking to put his own stamp on a squad inherited from another Italian.
He has deemed the Frenchman to be surplus to requirements, despite a desire from Bakayoko to remain on Chelsea’s books and try and play his way into form.
With the signing of Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic over the summer, there is little chance for fringe figures to get a look in.
Bakayoko will likely make a move to Italy over the coming days – with transfer windows still open across Europe.
If he impresses in the Italian top-flight, then it could be that a big-money deal in 2019 brings a largely forgettable spell with the Blues to a close
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had earlier reported that Spanish giants Real Madrid are preparing to test Chelsea’s resolve with a £200million offer for Eden Hazard.
Los Blancos are yet to fill the void created by Cristiano Ronaldo’s sale to Juventus in the current transfer window.
