Ooni’s surprise home to widow, 30 orphans arouses strong emotional feelings

Ooni of Ife His Imperial Majesty Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi (Ojaja II) under his Hopes Alive Initiative refurbished an orphanage in Ibadan.

Victoria Adeleke,a widow and the coordinator of Oluwakemi Orphanage Home that houses about 30 orphans collapsed and started rolling on the ground with tears in her eyes after beholding the new well equipped, and furnished home.

Temitope Adesegun, the deputy chief convener of Hopes Alive Initiatives on behalf of the Ooni of Ife said they decided to act after they visited the former home and discovered that the place was unkempt and unfit for living beings talk less of children.

“I told the Ooni that their case is beyond revamping or renovating the former house that it is better we give them a new start and he gave me the authorization to go and do what I feel would be befitting for them, make them happy and give them a new life hence this new house, fully furnished with educational materials and playing ground for the children to learn and play”, she said.

Adesegun also promised that members of the Hopes Alive Initiatives will continue to do a follow up check on them, supply them with food, books and other education materials, come with the medical team to check their well-being.

Speaking amidst tears, the coordinator of the home, Adeleke, said this is the miracle of all years because according to her, since she started operating the orphanage, she has never received such a surprise adding that there were many days she and the children starved and only looked unto God for divine provision.

Representative of the Ooni, Oba Adebowale Adekunle, the Agbolu of Agbaje-Ife said the Ooni is a generous king full of benevolence to mankind adding that there are many of such homes under Ooni’s care as well as many less privileged in the society that are benefiting from his act of generosity.

The children were full of joy as they showered praises on the Ooni and held a special prayer session for him. They also refused to go back to their former home as they cried to their coordinator not to return them there but allow them stay in the new 3-bedroom apartment with a well ventilated compound, well equipped kitchen with various utensils, a plasma TV set connected to a cable network, modern toilet and bathroom among others.
