Cop family welcomes triplets but appeals for help after bills pile up

- Wesley and Chantel McDonald recently welcomed triplets

- Chantel had a difficult pregnancy and the triplets were born premature

- The couple has appealed for donations because they were prepared for one baby

A couple from Gordon's Bay near Cape Town, South Africa welcomed adorable triplets in June 2018 - but are appealing for help after bills piled up.

Wesley and Chantel McDonald told Daily Voice that although they felt blessed to have three babies at once, they had budgeted for one only.

Their finances were also strained by Chantel's difficult pregnancy, NAIJ.com learned. She spent a total of eight weeks in hospital.

Wesley, a police officer, and Chantel, an administrator, both work at Somerset West Police Station. They have been married for seven years.

They named their triplets - two boys and a girl - Isabella Grace, Malakai, and Mikail. The babies needed special care and blood transfusions because they were born premature.

Fortunately, they were eventually discharged from hospital. Wesley and Chantel soon discovered just how expensive it would be to provide for their bundles of joy.

In a post shared on Somerset West Community Information Facebook group, Wesley wrote:

"On 25 July 2018, we purchased 15 packs of diapers and this was a shock for us as this is only about 4 weeks’ worth of supply."

"Our aim and reason for reaching out to anyone who is willing to help is for the mere fact that financially we aren’t able to see to all of our babies' needs thus would humbly ask for any type of help, donation or sponsorship which would help in any possible way."

Community members have already rallied to help the couple, Daily Voice reports. Chantel expressed her gratitude:

"Whatever else happens, our babies are home and healthy and this was my first and last pregnancy."
