- Spain international Juan Mata could be on his way to Valencia next summer
- His current contract at Manchester United will expire in the next 12 months
- Valencia want him to return to the club where he spent four years before joining Chelsea
Manchester United star Juan Mata has reportedly emerged as a summer transfer target for Spanish club Valencia with 12 months left on his current deal at Old Trafford.
United chiefs are said to have held talks with the 30-year-old Spanish football star on the possibility of him extending his stay in the Premier League.
But Juan Mata is yet to agree any deal according to the report by UK Sun and Valencia want to explore the opportunity to sign him on a free deal next summer.
A United source said: "It is well known Juan is wanted by Valencia. There is a strong connection between the two.
"His deal is up next summer and it looks likely he'll leave unless something changes soon.
"We know Juan's motives are not related to money and there's a very strong emotional attachment to take into account." the source said according to UK Sun.
Juan Mata spent four-years at Valencia between 2007 and 2011 where he made more than 125 La Liga appearances.
Earlier, NAIJ.com had reported how Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho says he never wanted to sell Juan Mata to Manchester United when he was still in charge of Chelsea.
The 30-year-old Spaniard was sold by the Blues to the Red Devils in 2014 despite being named their best player for the two previous seasons.
