40-year-old man in Enugu nabbed for allegedly killing his 46-year-old sick brother over rising medical bills

- There was pain and mourning in the Ugwuagbo-Inyi community of Enugu state following the alleged murder of a man by his brother

- The deceased, Chizoba Ogbonna-Izuchukwu (46 years) who was sick, was alleged killed by his brother, Raphael Izuchukwu (4o years) over increasing hospital bills

- Confirming that the sad incident took place on Friday, August 3, the police public relations officer of the state, Ebere Amaraizu, said that the case is being investigated

The police in Enugu state are investigating alleged murder of one Chizoba Ogbonna-Izuchukwu, 46, by his brother, Raphael Izuchukwu,4o, in Igboeze North Local Government area of the state, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

The police public relations officer, SP Ebere Amaraizu, said on Wednesday, August 15, in Enugu that the incident happened on Friday, August 3.

Amaraizu said that preliminary investigation showed that the suspect confessed to killing his brother and burying him in the early hours of the said day.

He said that the suspect claimed that deceased had been sick for long and there was no money to continue bearing the costs of his brother’s treatment. The spokesman said the police arrested the suspect following a tip off.

“The sleepy and calm community of Ugwuagbo-Inyi in Igboeze North Local Government Area of Enugu State was thrown into mourning as the news of the killing and burying of a brother by another brother was released to the members of the public.

“It was gathered that one Raphael Izuchukwu from Ugwuagbo-Inyi community had, on that fateful day, killed his elder brother identified as one Chizoba Ogbonna-Izuchukwu and went ahead to bury him.

“Full scale investigations have commenced as the suspect is now helping the police in their investigations,’’ he said.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com reported that the Zamfara state police public relations officer, Mohammed Shehu confirmed the arrest of 117 persons suspected to be connected with the recent killings in parts of the state.

NAIJ.com gathered that Shehu said in a statement that the killings are in Gusau, Shinkafi local government areas and other parts of the state.

According to him, the suspects were arrested during a raid carried out by the Special Tactical Squad of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) in conjunction with the command's tactical team on Thursday, July 19, which lasted for several hours.
