Kaduna state House of Assembly has elected Nuhu Shadalafiya as new deputy speaker following the defection of the former deputy speaker to PDP. John Audu's seat had earlier been declared vacant by the Kaduna state members of the Assembly on Wednesday, August 15.
The former deputy speaker represents Kachia constituency at the Assembly.
Premium Times reports that the speaker of the Assembly, Aminu Shagali, declared the seat vacant and Shadalafiya, the former committee chairman on information and member representing Kagarko constituency was subsequently elected as the new deputy speaker.
Ahmed Mohammed representing Zaria/ Kewaye nominated Shadalafiya for the position. The motion was accepted by the lawmakers.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that the Kaduna state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday, August 6, received Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi and his supporters in Kaduna.
Hunkuyi, who represents Kaduna North in the Senate, was among the 13 APC senators who recently defected to the PDP and other political parties. Hunkuyi was received by the state chairman of the PDP, Felix Hassan Hyet and other executive members of the party.
Hyet urged them to work with the party to take power from the APC in the state come 2019. He claimed Hunkuyi brought APC to power in the state.
