- Jigawa state has been thrown into frenzy following rally in support for the senator representing Jigawa northeast senatorial district
- Senator Ubale Shitu had defected from the ruling APC to the PDP
- The supporters said the rally was organised to show support for the senator who listened to the cry of his constituents
Supporters of Senator Ubale Shitu took to the streets of Jigawa over the recent defection of the Senator representing Jigawa northeast senatorial district.
The supporters rallied round the streets of Hadejia local government area in solidairty with the defected Senator.
Premium Times reports that although Shitu was not present at the event, the convener of the rally, Tijjani Usman, told the crowd that the rally was organised to show support for the senator.
Usman said the Senator being loyal to the constituents obeyed a call for his defection from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He said the need for the Senator's defection was due to lack of trust on the governor of Jigawa state, Abubakar Badaru failed to keep his promise to the people.
He added that prior to the 2015 general election, Badaru had asked the people to support President Muhammadu Buhari with the hope of reciprocating support for the constituents.
He, however, noted that Badaru “didn’t keep his promise, thus can’t be trusted”.
Usman said: “Mr Badaru deceived our senatorial district because since he came on board he didn’t commission a single project at Hadejia emirate, all the projects in this district are inherited ones and they are still ongoing three years after,” Usman said.
"Badaru flagged-off a school of nursing at Hadejia with only N50 million and went to his hometown and flagged-off school of nursing and midwifery with N2 billion.
For God’s sake this is purely injustice and deceive (deception), we will not allow such to continue beyound 2019.
What I will like Governor Badaru to understand is that, even white colonial masters were defeated in Hadejia because our people are not gullible. Governor Badaru will be the easiest person to be defeated in 2019,” he said.
