Chelsea legend John Terry is linked with a surprise move to Portuguese side Sporting CP.

The former England captain is a free agent after leaving Aston Villa at the end of last campaign and has been on vacation with wife Toni and his children in the Algarve this week

According to a UK Sun report, citing sources at Portuguese newspaper A Bola, the former England captain held discussions with Madeira Rodrigues - who is vying to become Sporting's new President.

The elections are scheduled to hold on September 8.

Rodrigues and Terry reportedly met on Wednesday, August 15, with ex-Chelsea captain told he will combine dual roles as a player and also as a club ambassador.

Interestingly, the presidential candidate is keen to improve Sporting's profile and links to the English topflight.

Ex-Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri is currently linked with the coaching job at the Estadio Jose Alvalade.

Terry last month stressed that he had not quit the round leather game, despite spending much of the summer on vacation.

"I’m currently enjoying my holidays with my family and weighing up ALL my options."

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously had reported that Chelsea legend John Terry has landed a new job working as a TV pundit analysing Egyptian football.

According to a UK Sun report the ex-England’s Three Lions ace has been using his spare time to analyse football games for the TV station owned by super club Pyramids FC.

The club’s Saudi owners are throwing a large amount of money to lure some of the top names in world soccer to be on the show in Cairo, either in person or via satellite link.
