Major General Chikezie Ude has assumed duty as the new commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) at a ceremony which took place at headquarters of the MNJTF in N'Djamena, Chad.
The spokesperson for the MNJTF, Colonel Timothy Antigha, in a statement on Friday, August 17, said Major General Ude thanked his predecessor, General Irabor for the remarkable achievements recorded during his tenure.
The new commander also lauded the executive secretary of the Lake Chad basin commission and head of mission MNJTF, ambassador Mamman Nuhu for supporting the former commander. He stated that he looked forward to enjoying similar support and cooperation during his tour of duty.
General Ude assured members of the MNJTF and staff of the African Union Mission Support Team, that he would continue from where his predecessor stopped and solicited the cooperation of everyone to ensure that the problem of Boko Haram terrorism is eradicated quickly.
Also speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Mamman Nuhu describes General Irabor as a commander with a remarkable pedigree. He said Irabor will be missed by everyone.
Meanwhile, in another report, a state High Court sitting in Ilorin, Kwara state capital city has threatened to imprison the inspector general of police, Ibrahim Idris, over alleged contempt of court.
The court presided by Justice Ibrahim Yusuf made the declaration in a notice of consequences of disobedience of order if court.
The order dated 10 August, 2018 was signed by the registrar of the court and addressed to the IGP, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
