As he joins the race for the Ogun governorship seat in ahead of 2019, Dapo Abiodun, an oil magnate, has said the state should compete favourably with Lagos in terms of generated revenue and development.
Abiodun, who made his intention known Iperu-Remo on Friday, August 17, said his ambition was divinely inspired
The Punch reports that Abiodun had earlier contested the senatorial seat of the Ogun East district in 2015, but lost.
The businessman said it was time “seasoned and successful private sector players” joined politics and turned around the fortunes of the country and its people around.
Abiodun, who said he would be contesting on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, added that the achievements of the current administration of Ibikunle Amosun could be better.

According to him, if elected as the governor, he would make Ogun an industrial hub with constant supply of electricity.
He also said he would bring his business success to bear on governance so as to make the state successful.
“If elected in 2019, I will run masses-oriented programmes, and will de-emphasise projects which will only give me visibility but would not add any value to the lives of the masses in the state.

“I will open up the roads in the rural communities, in order to improve the fortunes of the people in the rural communities. They need to bring their farm products to the market.
“If there are good rural roads, the farmers will get their farm products to the market in good time and they will make money. I will link the towns and the rural communities,” he said.
