Breaking: UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, other world leaders react to Kofi Annan's death

World leaders have reacted to the death of former UN secretary-general, Kofi Annan who died at the age of 80 in the early hours of Saturday, August 18, in Switzerland.

The leaders include British Prime Minister Theresa May, France Prime Minister Emmnauel Macron and UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres among other.

Theresa May said: A great leader and reformer of the UN, he made a huge contribution to making the world he has left a better place than the one he was born into. My thoughts and condolences are with his family."

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that Former UN secretary-general, Kofi Annan was dead. Kofi Annan died at the age of 80 in the early hours of Saturday, August 18, in Switzerland.

Annan, who was born in Ghana in 1938, served as the seventh UN Secretary-General, from 1997 to 2006, and was the first to rise from within the ranks of the United Nations staff.

He had been a member of The Elders, a group of global leaders working for human rights, since it was founded in 2007. In 2013, he became its chairman.
