Premier League giants Leicester City have confirmed that Nigeria international Wilfred Ndidi has signed a new six year contract with the club.
The 21-year-old joined the Foxes from Belgian topflight side KRC Genk in January 2017 and has been impressive for the King Power Stadium.
He has scored twice for Claude Puel's side in over 50 competitive appearances and was a stand out performer for his national team at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
And the club took to their official website to confirm the deal tying the defensive midfielder to them until the summer of 2024.
Ndidi was late last season linked with a move to Liverpool after which a couple of other teams joined in his chase, but all that can rest as the player has committed his future to his present club.
"Leicester City Football Club is delighted to confirm that Wilfred Ndidi has signed a new contract, keeping him at King Power Stadium until June 2024," The Foxes wrote on their official website.
"In the 18 months since his arrival from Belgian side Genk, he has developed into one of the Premier League’s most exciting talents as well as a key member of Leicester City’s first team squad.
"The Nigeria international, who represented his country at this summer’s FIFA World Cup in Russia, has played over 60 times for the Foxes and has been named the Club’s Young Player of the Year in each of the last two campaigns.
Meanwhile, Nidid reacting to his new deal with the Premier League side said that: “I’m very happy to sign this contract with Leicester City.
"I have enjoyed every moment of my time with the Football Club, so I’m thrilled to be here for six more years.
"Together with my team-mates and our wonderful supporters, I hope we can look forward to many more fantastic moments."
Ndidi was part of the Foxes squad that claimed a 2-0 victory over newly promoted Wolverhampton Wanderers at the King Power Stadium and his side's next clash will be against Southampton.
NAIJ.com previously reported that Liverpool were favourites ahead of Manchester United and Chelsea to sign Nigerian and Leicester City star Wilfred Ndidi.
He joined the Foxes in January 2017 from Genk replacing Frenchman N'Golo Kante who moved to Chelsea.
But his performances since he joined the Foxes have been superb sparkling speculation that he could leave the club at the end of the season.
