At the moment the Nou Camp dwellers have agreed to extend Busquets stay at the club for what will likely run for the rest of his career.

However, PSG would need to be cautious in any deal for the duo, after last year’s world record £195m signing of Neymar from Barcelona.

Club boss Thomas Tuchel already has his own midfield issues after Adrien Rabiot refused to agree terms on a new dealt.

The France international, whose mother acts as his agent, is free to hold talks with other clubs as of January 1 as his deal runs out at the end of this campaign.

Barcelona started their La Liga title defence with a 3-0 victory over Alaves as Lionel Miessi scored two and Philippe Coutinho also netted.
