- The herdsmen association says Tsav was at no time a member of the cattle breeders' group
- It says Tsav is also not an agent for the group and cannot speak for it
- The group also warned Benue governor Ortom not to use it as a political point for his re-election campaign ahead of 2019
The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has denied that a former Lagos state commissioner of police, Alhaji Abubakar Tsav, is one of its member or its agent.
The herdsmen association said Tsav is not a registered member of the group and therefore, does not speak on its behalf.
Daily Sun reports that the clarification came on Tuesday, August 21 as part of MACBAN’s reaction to a recent statement by the Benue State Government which referred to Tsav as an agent of Miyetti Allah.
National coordinator of MACBAN, Garus Gololo, urged Governor Samuel Ortom to leave the association alone and concentrate on important state matters like paying salaries.
Gololo also warned Governor Ortom against using Miyetti Allah for his campaign for re-election in the upcoming 2019 elections.
“Abubakar Tsav is not a member of Miyette Allah Cattle Breeders and he is not an agent. Please sir, face your problem of payment of your workers.
“Also face your ambition to emerge as state governor for second term. Do not use Miyette Allah as your campaign point,” the statement read.
In a related vein, NAIJ.com reported recently that ten months after he wrote a letter accusing Benue governor Samuel Ortom of massive corruption, former police Commissioner in Lagos, Abubakar Tsav, on Tuesday, April 3, apologized to the governor.
Tsav had, in a 10-page letter dated May 16, 2017, which was copied to anti-graft agencies, accused Ortom of “executive recklessness", saying that he had turned Benue into a private estate.
The former police officer, who is currently a Public Complaints Commissioner, accused Ortom of nepotism, saying that he had placed his family business - Oracle Business Ltd - above the state.
