- The APC chapter in Bayelsa state has accused the PDP of killing its members, ahead of 2019
- The party subsequently sent a protest letter to the inspector general of police, Ibrahim Idris
- It also urged the federal government and all meaningful security agencies to advice the PDP-led administration not to play politics with human lives
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa has been accused by the All Progressives Congress (APC), of attacking, intimidating and killing of its members in the state, ahead of the 2019 general elections.
The accusation comes following the death of three persons on Monday, August 20, in Brass local government area of the state, during a bloody clash between suspected thugs loyal to the APC and the PDP, Punch reports.
NAIJ.com gathers that the APC claimed that two of its members were killed during the clash; and subsequently sent a protest letter to the inspector general of police, Ibrahim Idris, over the incident.
According to the APC, the PDP-led administration in the state is working in collaboration with some individuals, hired mercenaries and security agencies to kill and unleash mayhem, threats, intimidation, unlawful arrests and detention of opposition members across the state.
Relaying its position via its spokesman, Doifie Buokoribo, the APC asked the state government to concentrate on developing the state and paying salaries of workers in Bayelsa rather than “playing God politically with our resources that no amount of killings and intimidation can suppress us.”
The spokesman described Monday’s incident as a show of shame and fear, ahead of 2019.
He further called on “the federal government and all meaningful security agencies to advice the PDP-led administration not to play politics with human lives; but rather, canvass voters with its goodwill than hoodwink with force.”
Recall that NAIJ.com previously reported that an assistant youth leader of the All Progressives Congress, Ejiro Ikpikpini, was stabbed and strangled to death by suspected hired assassins.
The ugly incident was said to have occurred in Ikpikpini's residence at Uloho Avenue by men said to be eight in number.
The deceased who was the youth leader of the Chief Cyril Ogodo-led executive of Delta state chapter of the APC, was stabbed and then strangled by his assailants.
