Sunday, August 19, made it four years since the passing of Ameyo Stella Adadevoh, the 57-year-old doctor who sacrificed her life for many others during the outbreak of Ebola virus in Nigeria. Her name will never be forgotten in the history of Nigeria.
It could be recalled that in 2014, she identified a patient who is a Liberian national, Patrick Sawyer, as a carrier of the deadly Ebola virus disease. After all her efforts in curbing the spread of the deadly virus, Adadevoh died of the virus on August 19, 2014.
Four years after Adadevoh’s passing, some notable politicians and good willing Nigerians have taken to social media to pay their heartmelting tribute to the deceased. Without mincing words, Adadevoh died a hero.
Wife of the senate president Toyin Saraki shared a post on Twitter saying: “#WorldHumanitarianDay Just a word to remember the brave Dr Stella Ameyo Adadevoh who died on August 19, 2014.... Governor Dankwambo of Gombe state disclosed that: “Dr Ameyo Stella Adadevoh will forever live in our hearts! On this day in 2014 She laid down her life for many of us to live. Her sacrifices and patriotism prevented the wide spread of Ebola Virus in Nigeria. #NevertobeForgotten.”
