Osun 2018: More problem for APC as Aregbesola's aide resigns appointment, set to join PDP

- A chieftain of APC in Osun state, Elder Peter Babalola, has resigned from Governor Aregbesola's government

- Babalola was the chairman of Osun state local government service commission before his resignation

- It was gathered that his resignation would allow him to defect from APC to his former party, PDP

There are indications that the camp of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun state may further be depleted ahead the Saturday, September 22, governorship election in the state.

NAIJ.com reports that this is due to the resignation of the chairman of Osun state local government service commission, Elder Peter Babalola, from the state government.

According to NAIJ.com regional reporter in Osogbo, Sola Adetona, a letter addressed to the state governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, revealed that Babalola said his resignation was hinged on his desire to channel his energy to other endeavours.

Peter Babalola's resignation may however not be a surprise as he has been linked to moving to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) where Senator Iyiola Omisore is contesting.

It was gathered that the former chief of staff to the then osun state governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola is planning to return to the PDP as some of his loyalists were present at the last PDP ward meeting held in ward six, Ikire ( his country home), the capital of Irewole local government.

It would be recalled that Babalola withdrew from the governorship race before APC primary in the state, saying that the party leadership had anointed a candidate without a recourse to internal democracy.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had previously reported Gbenga Awosode, the special adviser on cooperatives to Osun state Governor Rauf Aregbesola, resigned his position from the state government and defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Action Democratic Party (ADP).

It was reported that Awosode sent his resignation letter to the state governor and the state party leadership also announcing his withdrawal of membership from APC in the state.

NAIJ.com gathered that Governor Aregbesola is said to have accepted his letter of resignation. Awosode is believed to have taken the decision to join the team of Moshood Olalekan Adeoti, former secretary to Osun State Government (SSG), who also defected to the ADP.

Other members of the working committee that defected along with Adesiji to ADP are: Tajudeen Agbeti, ex-officio, Ademola Bamidele, state auditor, Rasheed Bakare, assistant general secretary; Akinola Morakinyo, state public relations officer; Wole Adunola, ex-officio, Idayat Bakare, assistant welfare secretary; Ogundare Aina Afolabi, assistant public relations officer and Sikiru Karim, assistant treasurer.
