Residents and commuters in Kawo area of Kaduna state have been stranded over flooding that ravaged some major parts of the state.
NAIJ.com regional reporter in Kaduna, Bashir Ahmad, reports that the rain which lasted for about ten hours, made it impossible for the commuters and the residents to go on their usual daily businesses.
According to the report, the major road that leads into Kaduna from Zaria and Kano, under bridge Kawo was submerged my flood after heavy rainfall.
"For the first time in history the major road that leads into Kaduna from Zaria and Kano, under bridge Kawo had been submerged my flood after heavy rainfall that lasted for more than 6 hours", he said.
It was gathered that the rain started around 2:00pm on Thursday, August 23, and could not stop until late in the night.
Some motorists had to wait till this morning, Friday, August 24, before they could continue with their journey.
According to him, "The resident of Kawo said they had never seen such degree of flooding before this year's rainy season.
"Some motorist after driving through the flooded road had to wait an check their cars, some even got stuck in it.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had previously reported that as flood wreaked havoc in 10 communities of Jibia local government area of Katsina state on Monday morning, July 16, no fewer than 25 persons were reportedly killed while 90 houses were destroyed.
Several people were declared missing, properties worth millions of naira were destroyed and over 260 livestock confirmed dead.
The downpour was said to have started around 11pm on Sunday, July 15, and stopped by 1am on Monday, July 16, This Day reports.
It was reported that some of the communities badly affected by the flood are Kwata, Dantudu, Sabuwar, Tukare, Tsohuwar Tukare, Ungwar Mai Kwari.
