A journalist, Matuba Mahlatjie, who is a friend of one of the grooms shared the photos on his Twitter profile recently, NAIJ.com gathered.
He congratulated his friend Clement on his engagement to his partner identified as Sam.
Matuba highlighted how the couple's respective families supported them on their big day. He added:
"Mothers, grandmothers are the shield for #LGBTIQ children in their families. We are changing the storyline in South Africa. Love wins!"
Clement and Sam were pictured with beaming elderly women who appeared to be their mothers. The couple also looked radiant and very much in love with each other.
Tweeps remarked on what a beautiful moment the engagement was and wished them the best in their relationship.
South Africa definitely seems like a liberal country in Africa when it comes to gay relationships.
