- 57 suspected homosexuals were recently arrested at a party in Lagos
- The policemen suspected that the party was an initiation party
- Nigerian gay rights activist, Bisi Alimi, reacted to the development in a Facebook post
The Nigerian government has made its stand on homosexuality known, and even stamped a 14-year sentence on whoever has been proven to be gay. This law, however, seems not to be functional going by the large numbers of citizens coming out to be homosexual.
The world is a global village and people are getting more aware of their sexual preference and also having sympathy for people with different sexual orientations. In Nigeria for instance, more and more people are openly opposing the law that homosexuals would be jailed for 14 years.
NAIJ.com earlier reported that 57 suspected gay men were recently arrested in Lagos during a party. The party was suspected to be an initiation party, and 57 men were arrested.
Popular Nigerian gay rights activist, Bisi Alimi, reacted to the development by airing his view on his Facebook page.
He explained that the arrested men are just victims of their poverty and whether they are homosexuals or not is not the issue. He further wrote that they would pay the price for being poor in a society that celebrates stolen wealth.
NAIJ.com recently reported that two South African men got engaged and they shared photos on social media.
The couple seemed to have the support of their relatives as they smiled and took photos.
