Igbo group begs Buhari to speak up on whether he has a pact with Tinubu ahead of 2023

- Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youths organisation wants President Muhammadu Buhari to speak up on whether he has a 2023 pact with Bola Tinubu

- The group says this explanation is important to help it decide on where to direct the votes of its members

- The group also argues that the Igbos have made sacrifices to unite the country and should be given a chance

A recent statement by the Senate president accusing the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, of eyeing the presidency in 2023, has spurred Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youths to demand for clarifications from President Muhammadu Buhari.

The youths said they want Buhari to speak up concerning the allegation that he had a pact with Tinubu for 2023.

Vanguard reports that a statement by the acting national leader of the group, Kingsley Dozie, and the deputy publicity secretary, Okey Nwachukwu, urged President Buhari to come out clean and explain to Nigerians if he has a pact with Bola Ahmed Tinubu concerning the 2023.

The statement said this was important ahead of campaigns and the 2019 elections and would help to make them decide on where to direct their votes.

The group said it they would want the response from the president till September 1, 2018.

“If the duo of Senator Bola Tinubu and President Buhari are actually sensitive to the plights of Ndigbo, they will not be silent at such a provocative and dangerous ploy to throw away equity and deny Ndigbo of their turn to pilot the affairs of this nation come 2023.

“More so, if the APC leaders actually believe in one cohesive, indivisible and indissoluble Nigeria, they will not be contemplating returning power to the Yoruba at the expense of Ndigbo taking into account all the sacrifices Ndigbo have made to keep Nigerian unity unbroken.

“For the records, Igbo youths will not support any presidential candidate that toils with the unity of Nigeria by deliberately failing to restructure this country as demanded by majority of Nigerians which is the only hope of rescuing this country from its pitiable condition,” the statement said.

NAIJ.com earlier reported that the president of the Nigerian Senate, Bukola Saraki, on Monday, August 20, replied the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, saying the latter was accommodating inadequacies in the party because of his presidential ambition for 2023.

Saraki said this in response to a letter reportedly written by Tinubu giving reasons why the Senate president and others left the APC.
