Senator Ben Murray Bruce has suggested that the fastest way poverty can be defeated is for poor people to be educated.
According to him, the more the poor learn, the more they earn and the more they earn, the less children they have and the longer they live.
In a couple of tweets on his page, the Bayelsa senator noted that his state has moved up the ladder due to its focus on education and urged the country to emulate the move.
He said education has multiplier effects, describing it as a gift that keeps on giving.

Meanwhile, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday, August 21, said the focus of the present administration is to take Nigerians out of poverty adding that all government’s programmes and projects were geared towards achieving that objective.
According to a statement signed by his senior special assistant on media and publicity, Laolu Akande, the vice president spoke during a town hall meeting held in Bariga/Somolu local council development area, Lagos state to felicitate with Lagosians on the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
Osinbajo said the government was targeting those at the lowest level so that they can do better.
