During the 2017/2018 season, majority of the Premier League teams voted against the use of VAR which went on to be a controversial tool in the FIFA World Cup.

The VAR ensured the latest edition of the World Cup had the most number of penalties awarded in the history of the tournament.

Although VAR will be deployed for the 5.00pm Premier league matches on September 15, referees will have no direct links to the VAR officials.

The technology has never been used in the Premier League, although it has played a hand in the EFL cup and selected FA cup ties so far this season.

Introduction of the VAR to the Premier League, is likely to divide opinions as the technology has both earned favour and criticism from fans, depending on which teams it worked against.

In the FIFA World Cup final, the referee was largely blamed for Croatia’s defeat at the hands of France as a penalty was given with the game nicely balanced at 1-1 in what did not look like a clear hand ball in the box, by Croat winger Ivan Perisic.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously had reported that Manchester United star Paul Pogba has confirmed that the next few months will determine whether he will leave the Premier League club or stay in England.

The Frenchman has been linked with a move to Barcelona, and the Catalan giants are ready to make the mega move for him when the January 2019 transfer window opens.

Pogba has now admitted that his future is uncertain and says his relationship with Jose Mourinho is nothing more than professional.
