More trouble hits PDP as Dankwanbo, Makarfi's coordinators set to dump party for APC

- Gombe chapter of PDP may soon face a massive defection of its member to APC

- The presidential coordinators of Governor Dankwambo and Senator Ahmed Makarfi in the state are set to dump the party

- Buhari Dankwanbo, a younger brother to Governor Dankwanbo, said he and his supporters would soon join the APC

There are indications that a massive wave of defection is about to hit the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe state, following the plan defection of Buhari Dankwambo, the younger brother to Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo and Auwal Akko, the presidential coordinator of Senator Ahmed Makarfi in Gombe state to the rival All Progressives Congress (APC).

Leadership reports that the duo who enjoy massive support of the youths in their locality and around Gombe state, have concluded plans to move to the APC with thousands of their supporters.

NAIJ.com gathered that the younger Dankwambo popularly known as BMD while confirming the development to newsmen in Gombe on Wednesday, September 5, said he has finalised all plans to defect to APC, adding that what is delaying the public declaration is the insistence by some APC stakeholders that the event should be colourful since he is coming to the party with large number of supporters.

“We shall soon make our intention public as soon as we conclude plans with stakeholders of the APC,” he said.

According to Leadership, BMD was very instrumental to the re-election of his elder brother in 2015, as was said to have spent a lot of resources in mobilizing the youths across the state to support Dankwambo, and no doubt his effort was widely visible.

It was gathered that besides BMD, another political general that is moving to the APC in the state, is Auwal Akko a renown educationist, political heavyweight in Akko local government area of the state and the coordinator of Makarfi's presidential election in the state.

The former secretary of PDP in Pindiga ward of the local government, Adamu Mamman, who is also following Akko to the APC said the exit of Auwal, a philanthropist and dogged politician and thousands of his supporters marks the end of PDP in Akko local government area of the state.

Speaking to Leadership, Mamman described the defector as a “renowned politician and a serving general of PDP” in the area.

He said that Auwal’s joining of the APC was a great loss and set back to the PDP and a big fish to the ruling APC which would boost the chances of APC in winning all elective positions in the area and the state at large.

“With the defection of Gafakan Akko to APC, it marks the end of PDP not only in Akko local government area of the state but in Gombe state at large.” Maman said.

He said they have resolved to work with Auwal in order to ensure the victory of APC come 2019 and beyond.

The Gafakan Akko, who earlier in the year rejected appointment to serve as special adviser to governor Dankwambo told the newspaper in a brief telephone chat that joining the APC would provide him the chance to contribute his quota to the development of his community, the state particular and the country at large.

According to him, “I choose to join the APC due to the deceptive character of Governor Dankwambo and to ensure we form an APC government in the state come 2019.”
