- Zinedine Zidane says Real Madrid did not focus on Mohamed Salah in the Champions League final
- The Liverpool star got injured in the final after a challenge from Spain international Sergio Ramos
- Zidane has been tipped to replace Jose Mourinho at Manchester United this season
Former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has revealed the instructions he gave his ex players against Liverpool in the final of the 2017/18 Champions League in Kiev.
Before the final, Mohamed Salah was in good form for Liverpool, but he could not play the full minutes in Kiev after being brought down by Spain international Sergio Ramos.
Sergio Ramos was badly criticized by football fans around the world with many saying that the defender intentionally injured Mohamed Salah.
Zinedine Zidane has now stated clearly that Real Madrid had no specific plan to deal with Mohamed Salah in the Champions League final.
Asked if he gave his side special instructions for Salah, Zidane told UEFA: "Not at all! Our game was always the same, regardless of who we were facing
"We told players about the individual characteristics of opposing players, so that they were aware of specific things that those players did
"But I didn’t want to do too much of that, as I wanted my players to focus primarily on our own game."
Real Madrid went on to win the match 3-1 before Frenchman Zinedine Zidane left the Spanish giants.
Earlier, NAIJ.com had reported how Zinedine Zidane has been enjoying his time away from football since he left Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid after winning the 2017/18 Champions League title.
Zinedine Zidane is currently in Formentera, Spain with his two sons where they are enjoying themselves, as he continued to be linked with a move to Manchester United.
