And with both sides still tied, the dreaded penalty shootout was employed to determine the eventual winner and United claimed the bragging rights after John Terry's infamous slip while trying to take his kick.

Interestingly, after claiming Europe’s premier club silverware, Ronaldo, according to his cousin Nuno Viveiros, opted for a surprise as soon as he returned to England.

"I lived with Cristiano in Manchester for five years, an unforgettable experience," Viveiros was quoted as saying in a UK Mirror report citing sources at Tuttosport .

"The night when the team won the Champions League in 2008. Do you remember the final of Moscow with Chelsea that ended on penalties?

"Terry slides into the right post of the goal and at the end Van der Sar saves Anelka’s shot.

"Do you know what Cristiano did when we got back to Manchester that night? He went to train.

"He went to train after becoming a champion. European Champion at the age of twenty-three, he is like that, he’s a real son of Madeira,” Viveiros submitted.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously had reported that ex-Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson tried making a prediction in 2008, how the future of Cristiano Ronaldo then at the Premier League club would pan out, if he moves to Real Madrid.

However, 10 years down the road, Fergie’s claims seems awkward as Ronaldo currently ranks among the best footballer of all time.
