Emerging reports claimed that the Imo state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Thursday, September 6, adopted indirect primaries for all elective positions in the party ahead of 2019 general elections.
Vanguard reports that this adoption took place during an emergency meeting of the State Executive Council (SEC) at the Imo International Convention Center (IICC).
It was learnt that the meeting which commenced at about 9:30 am was presided over by the state chairman, Dan Nwafor, he also said that revalidation of membership of the party has started.
It was also gathered that Governor Rocha Okorochs was represented by the speaker of the Imo state House of Assembly, Acho Ihim.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that the senator representing Ondo north senatorial district, Ajayi Boroffice, said he was against the indirect primaries adopted by the Ondo state executive committee of the APC in selecting its candidate for the 2019 general elections.
Boroffice said he was not aware nor invited to the meeting held in Akure on Wednesday where the decision by the Ondo APC was taken.
A statement signed by Boroffice's press secretary, Kayode Fakuyi, said the decision to adopt indirect primaries is not the general decision of the party.
