Kaduna APC joins others to adopt indirect primaries

- Kaduna APC has adopted indirect primaries for the party ahead of 2019 general election

- The party chairman said the state cannot afford the cost of conducting direct primaries

- He also claimed that the party could not access the list of genuine party members

Kaduna state executive council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has joined the league of states to adopt the indirect primaries for selecting the candidate to represent the party in the 2019 general election.

Vanguard reports that the party made the announcement at the end of an emergency meeting of the state executive council at the party secretariat in Kaduna.

Emmanuel Jakada, the chairman of the party, said the party decided to adopt the indirect primaries because it could not access the list of genuine party men and women from the national secretariat of the party.

Jakada said the state chapter of the party can not afford the cost of conducting a direct primaries as it may run into N1 billion.

Kaduna state APC announcement came barely hours after Katsina state chapter of the party also adopted the use of indirect primaries in the state.

NAIJ.com earlier reported that Adamawa chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday, September 3, adopted the indirect primaries for the election of its candidates for the 2019 general Elections.

A communiqué issued at the end of the State Executive Committee (SEC) meeting of the party in Yola said indirect primary was the best option for the state.
