Nigeria U17 national team revived their hopes of qualifying for the U17 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Tanzania with a convincing 5-1 victory over their counterparts from Ivory Coast.
A goal each from Olakunle Olusegun, Olatomi Olaniyan, Hassan Hussain, Oluwatimilehin Adeniyi and Akinwunmi Amoo handed the Golden Eaglets their first win at the Stade Général Seyni Kountché, Niamey.
Coach Manu Garba's boys got their qualification campaign off to a losing start following their 3-2 defeat to Burkina Faso earlier this week.
The Ivorians put one back in the 68th minute but it was all a consolation as it was unable to help them avoid defeat in the qualifiers.
Nigeria will now await the outcome of the game between Burkina Faso tackle Cote d’Ivoire to know where they will finish on the log.
