- APC faction urges its members and stakeholders to disregard all actions taken by Senator Hope Uzodinma for and on behalf of the party
- Efforts to get the senator’s reaction over the issue are not successful as calls to his mobile phones are not answered
- Imo APC factions disagree on primary method
A faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo state loyal to Governor Rochas Okorocha has announced that it does not recognise the senator representing Owerri west, Senator Hope Uzodinma, as a member of its fold.
Daily Trust reports that the chairman of the party, Daniel Nwafor, told journalists on Monday, September 10, that the senator’s purported defection to the party was not to the knowledge of either the local government chairman of Omuma in Orlu, Chief Jerry Madubueze, or the state executive council (SEC).
The party said Senator Uzodinma had not formally informed the local government chapter of the party neither had he declared on the floor of the National Assembly that he had left his former party for APC.
It therefor urged members and stakeholders of the party, including the national leadership to disregard all actions taken by the senator for and on behalf of the party.
“In the last couple of days, SEC has been inundated with calls on the activities of some people who described themselves as members of APC spearheaded Senator Hope Uzodinma. Our attention was drawn to a kangaroo meeting where some people met and took some decisions purportedly on behalf of our party. We put it on record that he is not a member of the party," the state chairman for the party said.
However, efforts to get Uzodinma’s reaction were not successful as calls to his mobile phones were not answered.

Meanwhile, emerging reports have it that two factions of the APC in Imo state have disagreed on the method of the primary election the state will employ in the election of their candidates for next year’s poll.
Channel TV reports that the faction led by the state chairman, Daniel Nwafor, was said to have earlier adopted the indirect mode of primaries for all elective positions in the party ahead of the 2019 elections.
The coalition group disclosed that the adoption of direct primaries for all elective positions will be the most suitable, considering the litigations surrounding the ward, local and state congresses of the party in the state.
