-Olumide Osoba has revealed plan to end to his life by unknown persons
- He said the threat came barely twenty-four hours after rejecting APC list
- He said he still stands by his press statement that he is not from Abeokuta South
Following the rejection of the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus list which pitched his name under Abeokuta South constituency, Olumide Osoba, the son of the former Ogun state governor, has cried out that his life is being threatened by unknown men.
Punch reports that the young Osoba said this in a statement he personally signed, adding that the threat has also been extended to members of his family.
NAIJ.com gathers that Osoba at a media briefing on Monday, 10 September, rejected the APC consensus list which put his name under the Abeokuta South constituency. His rejection, according to former lawmaker, was due to the fact that he cannot represent another constituency again having represented Abeokuta North, Obafemi Owode and Odeda federal constituency at the lower chamber between 2011 and 2015.
Revealing the threat to his life, he said: “It is of great importance to bring this to the knowledge of members of our great party, APC, and the general public that since I released my press statement on the alleged ‘consensus list’ wherein my name was listed as one of the candidates of our party in the forthcoming general elections without my consent or consultation, unknown persons have been threatening my life and that of my immediate family members."
“This is done in order for me to rescind the press statement and applaud the procedure that produced the list. The threat to my life or that of my family members is not the way out but obedience to lawful directive and policy of the party."
“I, Olumide Babatunde Osoba, stand by my earlier press statement that I only support the direct primary ordered by the national working committee of our party.”
