- Simeone reveals who he would prefer to work with between Neymar and Mbappe
- The Argentine tactician believes Neymar has a better workrate than his PSG teammate
- The 48-year-old Atletico Madrid boss added Griezmann has performed better than the duo
Diego Simeone has revealed he prefers Brazil's Neymar over France star Kylian Mbappe due to his superior workrate.
However, the Argentine manager, who has four points from three matches in La Liga this season claimed Antoine Griezmann had outperformed both of them over the past year.
"Neymar, of course. When he was part of Luis Enrique's Barcelona, he worked when he had to. Mbappe is much more individualistic," Simeone told Spanish radio Cope.
However, the 48-year-old believes the best player in the world can be found in his own Atletico Madrid side and highlighted Griezmann's string of team accolades as the reason.
"Griezmann is world champion, European Supercup champion and Europa League champion. He has finished second in the Spanish League where we play Real Madrid and Barcelona, who between them are continually winning the Champions League and he was the best player in the World Cup final.
"Griezmann in this last year was the best in the world. It's a shame that he's not among the finalist (for FIFA's The Best award). The truth is that I feel sorry for the boy, it makes you feel a little disappointed," he said.
The former Argentina captain went on to back his squad to challenge for a second La Liga title of his seven-year reign.
Atletico won the league in 2014 and have also claimed two Europa League wins under Simeone, who wants more silverware this season.
He said: "Without Cristiano Ronaldo, we get closer to Real Madrid. Can we be champions? Of course, if Barcelona stumble.
"If Diego Costa and (Jan) Oblak are well, we have a lot of chances to win. And we have the best player in the world today, which is Griezmann."
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had earlier reported that Brazil star Neymar has reportedly asked Barcelona for a move back to Nou Camp - but the club has been unmoved with his plea.
The 26-year-old joined Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain last summer in a world-record £200million move.
