- A senator from Edo has predicted that more people will leave APC soon
- According to him, the ruling party will run into crisis after primaries election
- He added that Senate will resume in September
With a few days to the primaries of the two leading political parties in the country, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Party (APC), Matthew Urhoghide, the chairman of Senate committee on public accounts, has predicted that more people will leave the ruling party APC for main opposition PDP due to the fallout that will possibly mar the APC primaries process.
In a reports available in Vanguard, Urhoghide was quoted making the prediction while responding to questions from newsmen in Edo city.
He added that the PDP's earlier claim that it was expecting five governors and more federal lawmakers defecting from APC was true.
He said: "We are expecting more defectors from the APC. We are in touch with some of them. We are serious and not bluffing. We expect a harvest of defectors after the APC primaries which comes up on September 27.”
When asked why the Senate has failed to reconvene despite several burning issues the federal lawmaker are expected to address, Urhoghide debunked the peddled rumours that the inability of Senate to resume duty is due to the threats of impeachment targeted against some principal officers of the National Assembly
He explained that the National Assembly went on recess in July and will resume in September.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that a leader of the PDP in Adamawa state, Jameel Zubairu, on Sunday, July 29, said that politicians decamping from the All Progressives Congress (APC) were returning to the problems they left in the party.
He said these politicians had initially refused to solve the problems in the PDP before they fled the former ruling party.
Zubairu, a former chief protocol to President Muhammadu Buhari when he was Nigeria's head of state, said the ruling party was currently undergoing internal crisis because it was formed by strange bedfellows with different political ideologies.
