- The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has named a 90-man electoral campaign committee in Osun state
- The expressed confident that it would win the coming election
- It said its candidate, Fatai Akinbade, stands a shoulder above other candidates being paraded by other parties
The son of former Adamawa state governor, Senator Abdul-Azeez Nyako; and former governors of Osun and Oyo states, Olagunsoye Oyinlola and Rashidi Ladoja, would lead the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Osun state campaign committee.
NAIJ.com gathered that the party also expressed confidence in its candidate, Alhaji Fatai Akinbade, and his running mate, Justice Folahanmi Oloyede, (retd.), to emerge victorious in the September 22 governorship election in Osun state.
Chief Ralphs Nwosu, the party’s national chairman, said the ADC’s chances of winning the election were bright considering the alleged poor performance and many abandoned projects of Governor Rauf Aregbesola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last eight years.

The national chairman stated that the ADC boasted of five million card-carrying members, adding that 90 stalwarts of the party had been assembled to lead its campaign in Osun state.
The party in a statement on Wednesday, September 12, by the national publicity secretary, Yemi Kolapo, said: “We are confident of victory in the landmark election because the leaders of the committee have defined a paradigm shift in the fortunes of the key South-West state, which has suffered untold deprivation and stagnation under the outgoing APC regime of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
“We took our time to select the ADC candidate, Alhaji Fatai Akinbade, and his running mate, retired Justice Folahanmi Oloyede, who sacrificed her career for the masses when she criticised Governor Aregbesola for alleged failure to pay workers’ salaries and pensions.
“Judging from the candidates being paraded by other parties in the coming election in the state, we can readily beat our chest that we shall coast home to victory in the Osun governorship poll because Akinbade stands a shoulder above all of them.
“Indeed, we consider it the height of insult to the good people of Osun State for the APC governorship candidate, Mr Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola, to say he wants to continue with the sundry iniquities visited on our dear state.
“Are we to continue with the state debt that increased from N8bn to N310bn under the APC, or is it the N8.6bn spent on the failed Opon-Imo project awarded to the governor’s son, not to talk of billions wasted on a bogus airport project or Dagbolu market that remains a wasteland?”
