The Airport Council International (Africa) has announced the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja as the best improved airport in Africa (Safety category), with over 20,000 ATM's (Air traffic movements) for the year 2018.
NAIJ.com reports that in a letter written to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), ACI Africa congratulated Nigeria on the excellent achievements recorded by the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
The letter read: "ACI Africa congratulates your airport on this excellent achievements. Your airport was chosen as the winner following an extensive evaluation process from a number of entries received in this category.
"ACI Africa has recorded significant interest in this award and the submission recorded were of a very high standard.
"Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport can be assured that despite fierce competition, its infrastructure and process was rated to be best in Africa for its category.
"This award will be presented at our ACI Africa conference and annual general assembly from 14th-17th October, 2018 to be held in Abidjan/Cote d'iovire."
