- Mesut Ozil has been linked with a move to United
- Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho wants the German midfielder Ozil at Old Trafford
- Ozil opened his new season goals account against Newcastle on Saturday
Arsenal German playmaker Mesut Ozil is on the wish-list of Manchester United Portuguese boss Jose Mourinho in the forthcoming winter transfer window in January.
According to a UK Daily Star report citing sources at the Express, the former Real Madrid manager is eager to reunite with the German star at Old Trafford, after a cold war emerged between Ozil and Gunners manager Unai Emery.
The former PSG manager lambasted the midfielder recently, for not doing enough in the Gunners quest for silverware and Ozil responded with a decent performance, at St James Park on Saturday.
During the encounter, Ozil ensured that Arsenal claimed maximum points against Newcastle after netting the match winner in the second half to see off the Rafa Benitez tutored-side.
However, showcasing his qualities against Newcastle, reports still suggest that a ‘crack’ now exists between the player and manager.
Currently, the German pockets £350,000-a-week after extending his stay with the Emirates side in January, at a time Mourinho was already keeping tabs on the playmaker.
Despite opting for Ozil’s teammate Alexis Sanchez in January, the report further revealed, the German was still under the radar of the Red Devils manager.
Manchester United could not land some of Mourinho’s summer targets, especially in the defence department, an issue that saw club chief Ed Woodward fallout with Portuguese during the summer.
However, the Red Devils chief is likely to attend to the former Chelsea manager demands by signing Ozil in the coming window in order to calm nerves at Old Trafford.
On the hand, Emery has urged Ozil to improve on his goalsoring potentials to further assist the Gunners, achieve set goals.
“His (Ozil’s) quality helps the team, it is important he scored,” Emery said.
“I want not only for him to assist we need him to go in the box and score like today.
“I will work with every player and continue our process to create the team as we want,” Emery submitted.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously had reported that Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Manchester United and Chelsea who are said to be monitoring his situation at the Emirates.
The Wales international is one of the big players playing for Arsenal after joining the Gunners from Cardiff City in 2008 under former coach Arsene Wenger.
But Arsenal are currently struggling to tie Aaron Ramsey down to a new deal at the club, and according to the report by Metro, football pundit Nigel Winterburn told the club that Chelsea and Manchester United are interested.
